The 33rd Annual Small Farmers Conference, organized by the pg电子下载 State University Extension Program in partnership with the Mississippi Association of Cooperatives (MAC), will be taking place from Monday, September 23, until Wednesday, September 25, at the Silver Star Convention Center in Philadelphia, Miss.
“The goal of the conference is to provide a host of educational sessions designed to assist producers, farmers, and landowners in making sound decisions regarding their farm enterprise,” said Gerald Jones, Extension Programs director for county operations. “We plan to share educational resources and networking opportunities for small farmers that will help them to adapt to the ever-changing agriculture landscape.”
The conference offers a range of educational sessions and outdoor learning opportunities in agriculture, including livestock and vegetable production. It will also feature a “Women in Business” session, highlighting women entrepreneurs in various fields.
“This year’s conference will provide a host of educational sessions and agriculture hands-on outdoor learning sites, including livestock and vegetable production,” added Jones.
The conference will include hands-on outdoor agriculture learning sites, covering livestock, vegetable production, drone technology, farm recordkeeping, integrated pest management, and value-added vegetable processing. The “Women in Business” session will spotlight various entrepreneurs from across the state.
This event is open to farmers, producers, landowners, and women in business from across the state and neighboring regions, including Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Tennessee.
The conference provides an opportunity for pg电子下载 and the Mississippi Association of Cooperatives staff to engage with new and beginning farmers, as well as reconnect with existing farmer clientele. This year’s conference in East-Central Mississippi has received support from the Neshoba County Board of Supervisors, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, local farm cooperatives, and the Associate Extension Administrator.
“At the conclusion of the conference, we hope each participant will learn something new and gain valuable knowledge that can be adopted on their respective farm,” said Jones.
